Please share this important information from the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) widely to aid in preparation and awareness. ACHD would like to share some important information about COVID-19 (novel coronavirus). Residents of Allegheny County need to be prepared for potential community spread of COVID-19. Although COVID-19 is a different virus than influenza, similar prevention strategies can be effective. Individuals should continue to help stop the spread of viruses, like the flu, by washing hands, covering coughs and sneezes, cleaning surfaces and staying home if sick.
ACHD encourages businesses to consider how best to reduce the spread of respiratory illness and decrease the impact of COVID-19 in the workplace in the event of an outbreak in the United States. Interim Guidance for Businesses and Employers to Plan and Respond to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) can be found by clicking here.
ACHD also encourages residents to check the CDC’s Traveler’s Health Notices for the latest guidance and recommendations before planning travel outside the United States. Travel information can be found by clicking here.
If you have additional questions about how you can prepare for potential community spread of COVID-19, please contact ACHD via their online communication system. If you have urgent medical questions about COVID-19, we can be reached at 412-687-2243.
