South Hills Interfaith Movement (SHIM)

The Youth Engagement Specialist is a part-time, full-year position. The Engagement Specialist will oversee student engagement efforts, including but not limited to, daily check-ins, new student recruitment, student retainment efforts, and parent communication. The Engagement Specialist will assist the Youth Mentoring Manager and other staff with daily homework help and planning/leading evening groups for secondary and college-aged students. The Engagement Specialist will also assist with transportation efforts ensuring students safely get to and from the program. Hours of this job may fall within the range of 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm Monday through Friday, for up to 25 hours per week and can be negotiated upon hire.

Sarah Heinz House is seeking caring, responsible staff to help create a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for youth. Staff may work during the school year, the summer, or both depending on availability. During the school year, staff serve as Youth Development Aides, supervising members in gym, cafe, gamesroom, library, locker room and aftercare spaces, assisting with transitions between activities, and helping maintain a welcoming and organized environment. During the summer, staff serve as Day Camp Counselors, leading activities and supervising campers ages 3–11 in a fun and structured camp setting.

The In-House Youth Programs Coordinator (“Youth Programs Coordinator”) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the youth programs that occur at Assemble’s 4824 Penn Ave Location, which includes Assemble Afterschool, Day Camps, Summer Camps, and Saturday Crafternoons. This person collaborates with Assemble Teachers to deliver STEAM-based programming and lessons. They are responsible for coordinating the youth programs’ logistics, such as transportation, guest expert coordination, student/family communication, registration, and creative theming aspects of workshops. They actively engage to build a culture of making and inquiry, expanding on Assemble’s pedagogy. They are also at the heart of building relationships with youth and families, connecting them to resources beyond Assemble. They work with and report back to the In-House Programs Manager on Assemble’s current program offerings, to explore new program opportunities, and to help expand organizational capacity to fulfill its mission and vision. They are also expected to work collaboratively with all staff and cover teaching for their coordination as needed.

The ECC Librarian plans and delivers library programs, resources, and services for adults and children, collection development, patron assistance with technology and information, outreach, and promoting library services through marketing and community engagement. Key responsibilities include reference and reader advisory, managing digital resources, managing and selecting age-appropriate books and media, and fostering community connections to ensure the library meets adult and children' s educational and cultural needs, and creating a warm and welcoming environment. Work on occasional evenings and weekends is necessary, but is based on mutual agreement and appropriate advance knowledge, planning, and communication with staff members.

Youth Guidance - Greater Pittsburgh

WOW Counselor II staff are responsible for delivering school-based group counseling and individualized support to female-identifying students in grades 6–12 to promote emotional well-being, healthy relationships, and positive decision-making. Drawing on their academic training in counseling, social work, or psychology, WOW Counselor II staff use trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices to facilitate group sessions, provide short-term counseling as needed, and respond to student crises. ECO’s program coordinator will be responsible for developing, organizing and running programs, both at the Etna Center for Community and at other locations throughout the Borough. The programs’ concepts will be developed based on feedback from the community and will address both residents’ needs and desires. The number, type, and variety of programs will be determined by the Program Coordinator in collaboration with the ECC Librarian and ECO Executive Director, and the ECC Program Committee.
